The Life of Virginia L. Hoppes

Virginia "Ginger" L. (Goll) Hoppes, 73, of Bowers, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in the inpatient hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the loving wife of Robert "Bobby" R. Hoppes. Born in Reading, Ginger was a daughter of the late George L. S. and Annabelle T. (Trexler) Goll. Mrs. Hoppes was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers. She was a 1962 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton, and a 1965 graduate of The Reading Hospital School of Nursing. Ginger was employed as a Support Nurse at B. Braun Medical, Inc., Bethlehem, for almost 20 years, until her retirement in 2007. Prior to her employment with B. Braun, she worked as a Registered Nurse at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading and The Lutheran Home at Topton, as well as several other health care facilities in the area. Ginger was an avid golfer. She also liked traveling to Myrtle Beach, where she enjoyed playing golf, and taking walks on the beach. She was also a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for many years.

In addition to her husband Bobby, Ginger is survived by a daughter, Anne E. (Hoppes), wife of Scot W. Gordon, Bath; two grandsons, Daniel R. and Joshua T. Gordon; two sisters, Georgiana T. (Goll), wife of Kermit E. Kemp, Levittown, and Jean B. (Goll), wife of William "Bill" F. Moyer, Topton; a brother-in-law, Earl "Deet" A., husband of Bonnie J. (Scherer) Hoppes, Macungie, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a daughter, Gayle L. Hoppes on March 30, 1993.

A funeral service to celebrate Ginger's life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, 63 Old Bowers Road, Bowers, with Reverend Roger M. Ulrich officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Bowers. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
