The Life of Gilbert D Shuey
Gilbert D. Shuey, 80, of North Manheim Township, passed away Thursday at Lebanon Veteran's Hospital, Lebanon.
Born in Barry Township, Nov. 23, 1936, he was a son of the late Lawrence Sr. and Verna Klinger Shuey.
He was the husband of Joyce L. Trumbo Shuey.
Gilbert was a graduate of Hegins Township High School and had served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1959.
He retired from Reneer Films and was last employed by the Schuylkill Country Club as part of the grounds crew from 1998-2016.
Gilbert was an active and faithful member of Friedens Lutheran Church, New Ringgold.
He also belonged to the Schuylkill Lodge 138 F&AM, the New Ringgold Fire Company as a life member, and the Landingville Hose Company as a social member.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua J. Stokes.
In addition to his wife, Gilbert is survived by two daughters, Arlene F. Shuey Mengel and husband, Steve, Hamburg, and Deborah A. Generella and husband, Frank, New Ringgold; two granddaughters, Cathleen Kayani, Bear, Del., and Alexis Day, Slatington; two great-granddaughters, GraceAnn and Addilynn. He is also survived by four sisters, Patricia Shuey, Nancy Emminger, Judith Alstadt and Karen Maurer; two brothers, Lawrence Shuey Jr. and Harry Shuey; nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Nov. 20 at Friedens Lutheran Church, New Ringgold, with the Rev. Kenneth Melber Jr. officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
