The Life of Ethel Whitcomb

Ethel  "Es" (nee Heap) Whitcomb, 84, of Springfield, PA, died November 6, 2017 at Crozer Keystone Hospice.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a lifetime resident of Springfield. Es had been employed as a Teacher in the Springfield School District and taught at the same school (Oakdale), she attended as a girl, as did her husband and children. At the time of her retirement it had been replaced by E. T.  Richardson.

She was a graduate of Springfield High class of '51 and West Chester University. Es enjoyed time with family, was an avid reader of mysteries and enjoyed sunbathing especially on LBI. Very family oriented, Es was known for her sense of humor, was a good cook and baker.

Survivors: include her husband of 60 years, Harry; children, Cara (John)  Sharples, Dorothy "Dale" Barbour,  Laura (Chris) Collins, Henry Whitcomb; her brother, John Heap, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Service: Funeral Service will be 1pm Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington

Visitation: begins at 12 noon.

Interment: Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA 19026

Contributions: in her memory to the charity of the donor's choice, would be preferred
