The Life of Charles A Rhode


Charles A. Rhode, 87, of Pottsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday.

Born in Schuylkill Haven, he was a son of the late Irvin and Viola Rhode.

He was the loving husband of 66 years of Anna (Jean) Patinsky Rhode.

Charles served in the Army in the 26th infantry during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Pottsville.

Charles was a lifetime member of West End Hose Company.

He enjoyed woodworking, sudoku puzzles, and collecting antiques and coins. He also enjoyed going to casinos and on vacations with his wife.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Frank and Jack; sisters, Ethel Mae Childers and Dolly Fisher; a great-grandson, Devin Artz.

In addition to his wife, Anna, he is survived by his son, Charles, husband of Bonnie, Biglerville; daughters, Debra Andrisani, wife of Joseph, New Jersey, and Christi, fiancee of Scott Coy, Pottsville; grandchildren, Jodi Mataka, Haley Wiscount and Alisha Rhode; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond; a sister, Della Dillman.

A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Fidler officiating. Interment will follow on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Charles' name be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 316 W. Market St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
