The Life of Robert D Johnson
Robert D. Johnson, 91, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday morning at Providence Place, Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville, April 27, 1926, he was a son of the late Elmer and Helen Lord Johnson.
He was a 1942 graduate of Pottsville High School and a 1946 graduate of Bucknell University, Lewisburg, where he received a degree in accounting.
He took over the family business, Johnson's Tires, Pottsville, which his father started in 1940, and retired in 2001.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville.
Robert was an active member of Pulaski 216 Masons Lodge since January 1955, Pottsville Lions, and TPA for 67 years. He enjoyed playing the piano for the residents at Providence Place.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Barbara L. Mullins, wife of Raymond, Pottsville; a son, Donald R. Johnson, husband of M. Susan, Hamburg; a sister, Peg Jones, Pottsville; a brother, Elmer Robert Johnson, husband of Sandy, Minersville; grandchildren, Alicia Mullins, fiance of Chris Costic, Jessica Hunt and Jeremy Hunt, Christopher Johnson, husband of Jessica, Rebecca Collins, wife of Sean, and Jamie Fields, wife of Ryan; great-grandchildren, Alexandrea Mullins, Luke and Ella Collins, Brandon, Sydney, and Gavin Hunt, and Jackson Fields; a great-great-grandson, Robert Bruce III; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Pastor Chris Rothharpt officiating. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
