The Life of Mona E McDonough

No one ever doubted her top priority: for Mona family was job one. She always told you she loved you; usually with a hug. At home, she ruled the roost; even the dogs knew not to mess with her. Come 5 o'clock her family was seated around the table; when the streetlights came on her kids best find their way to her front steps. But by the time the grandkids came along Mona substituted that tough love thing with out and out spoiling: they knew that they could tell her anything. Her garden was perfect (tiger lilies, tomatoes, hibiscus) and no one could ever duplicate her potato and macaroni salad. If her T.V was on she'd probably be checking out the Chew or General Hospital. Mona's happiest times were either down in Strathmere, relaxing with the grands or gathering her family back together at the holidays. A young Mona would meet a handsome sailor. It took the late Thomas a little time but he'd eventually win her heart. Their 47-year marriage was blessed by 3 children: Thomas (Tonya), Daniel (Cristy) and Joseph (Sharon) and grandchildren: William, Joseph, Serena, Marissa, Ryan and Carly. She is survived by her siblings, Doris Hipple (Tom) and Jack Sayre (Nancy). Come celebrate 79 great years Wednesday 9 to 11 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral, Riverside where there will be a service at 11. Interment Lakeview Cemetery.
