The Life of Irene P Mellon


Irene P. Mellon, 94, of Anderson, S.C., passed away Oct. 9 at Anderson Medical Center.

Irene was born in Minersville, Aug. 8, 1923, a daughter of the late James W. and Minnie A. Stutzman Bainbridge.

She was the widow of Paul W. Mellon.

Irene was a member of Lighthouse Church, Orwigsburg, and Concord Community Church, Anderson, S.C.

She worked in the cutting room at the former Sylray Textile factory, Orwigsburg.

Irene was preceded in death by four sisters, Annabelle Sowers, Dorothy Stotland, Billene Breiner and Jean Stauffer, Irene's twin; brothers, John Bainbridge and James Bainbridge.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Paula L. Holzer, wife of Carl, Anderson, S.C.; sister, Elaine Miller, Schuylkill Haven; brother, Allen, husband of Joan Bainbridge, Drehersville; grandchildren, Derek Holzer, husband of Kelly, and Carla Marchione, wife of Joseph; four great-grandchildren, Kylie and Zander Holzer, and Adalyn and Bowen Marchione. 

Interment services will be held at 1 p.m. in Schuylkill Memorial Park followed by a Celebration of Irene's Life service at 2 p.m. Monday at Lighthouse Church, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg, with Pastor William M. Orf officiating. Please honor Irene's request and send contributions, in lieu of flowers, in her name to Lighthouse Church/Orphan Helpers, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg, PA 17961.
