The Life of James Donald Havenner

J. D. (James) Havenner, passed away September 8 at home. He is survived by his wife, Carol, son Wade Havenner of Olathe, daughters Shawna Price of Olathe and Stacy Fitzpatrick (Lee) of Gardner, granddaughter Riley Price, and grandsons Zach Price, Luke and Jack Fitzpatrick.

He was born April 9, 1941 in Kansas City, Ks then lived in Olathe, Kansas for his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Lucille Havenner, his sister, Dixie Hare, and his brothers Steven and Michael.

JD was a business repairman for the “phone company” - Southwestern Bell, then AT&T and Lucent for more than 35 years.

JD never knew a stranger, and people always remembered him. It was a family joke that everywhere we went, someone knew JD. Actually, that was really true.

Some of JD''s favorite things were fishing, gardening, talking, coffee at Old 56 restaurant, all sports – especially KU basketball, the Chiefs, the Royals, and any sport that his grandkids played. In that spirit, we invite you to wear your favorite team attire to his memorial service. It will be at Penwell-Gabel funeral home in Olathe, September 16th with visitation at 10am, followed by service at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Grace UMC for UMCOR – hurricane relief, handbell choirs or Center of Grace medical closet.

He will be missed by his family and friends.
