The Life of HARRY MERRILL WILLIAMS

Harry M. Williams was born August 3, 1918, in Truro, Iowa, to Guy and Addie Williams. He passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the age 98.

Harry graduated from Lorimor High School in 1935 and received his business degree from Capital City Commercial College in 1940, the same institute his father graduated from in 1912.

Harry worked for Colonial Bread Company, Ford Motor Company, and as an Auditor for the State of Iowa prior to owning and operating Hawkeye Business Service until retiring in 1984.

During retirement, he enjoyed caring for his 70-acre hobby farm as well as taking cruises and traveling to 42 countries with his wife.

Harry is survived by his wife of 72 years, Jeanette; children, Judy Town, Larry Williams, and Ronald Williams; grandchildren, Stacey, Brian, Brent, Victoria, Spencer, Veronica and Michaela; ten great-grandchildren; and his brother, Russell (June) Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Richard M. Town; and siblings, Burrell Williams, Norma Williams, Ina Bell, and Lola McClun.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow services at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
