The Life of ELDRED RUTH TOIGO
Eldred Ruth (Watkins) Toigo was born February 17, 1922, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Emmett Earl Watkins and Nellie (McDaniel) Watkins. She passed away peacefully Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the age of 95.
Eldred lived the first year of her life in Des Moines before her family moved to Knoxville, Iowa, then Pershing, Iowa, before returning to Des Moines in 1941. She made her home in Des Moines and the surrounding area until three years ago, when she moved to Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City, where she lived in the memory care unit for the remainder of her life. She married Joe A. Toigo, who precedes her in death. Eldred was a faithful member of Eastside Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her daughters, Joan Duteau of Altoona, Iowa and Donna Bennett of Moville, Iowa; sisters, Dorothy Dreyfus and Connie Snyder of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Monica Bennett, Olivia Houde, and Jonathan Duteau; seven great-grandchildren; and many other loving extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Joe, Eldred was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Nellie Watkins; sisters, Helen Baiotto and Marilyn Bolton; brothers, David Watkins, Larry Watkins, and Don Watkins; granddaughter, Sarah Zirbel; and great-grandson, Joeseph Duteau.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed immediately by funeral services at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Eastside Church of the Nazarene, 1451 E 25th St, Des Moines. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery following the services.
