The Life of MARY LOU FORKNER SCHROEDER

Mary Lou Forkner-Schroeder was born May 26, 1929, in Davis City, Iowa, to Harry and Hazel Ventling. She passed away June 28, 2017, at her home in Johnston, Iowa, of congestive heart failure.

Mary was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved word searches, playing cards, traveling, going out to eat, and never missed her weekly hair appointment.

Mary is survived by her husband, Kenny Schroeder; mother, Hazel Ventling; sister, Sharon Goben; children, Sondra (Chuck) McKeever, Peggy (Harvey) Helm, Pamela Crawford, and Ty Forkner; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Ventling; first husband, Bob Forkner; daughter, Jonda Sederwall; sons, Robert “Bobby” Jr. and Richard Forkner; and her great-granddaughter, Abby Naeve.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in loving memory of Mary.
