The Life of JUDITH IRENE WEATHERLY
Judy Weatherly, 83, was born Dec. 6, 1933, in Des Moines to Paul and Mabel (Hawk) Voegtlin. She died Tuesday June 20, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 23 at Iles Grandview Funeral Home.
Judy graduated from Mitchellville High School in 1951 and in May 1954 married Howard Weatherly. They had two sons. Judy worked several jobs, but retired after more than 40 years in the medical offices of Dr. Lawrence F. Staples, M.D., and Dr. Todd Jensen, M.D. She was a faithful 70-plus-year member of Grandview Park Baptist Church and had received Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age.
Judy enjoyed traveling the U.S. and studying destinations nationwide with maps and atlases. She cherished the many friendships she made over the years and she loved attending her grandchildren’s high school and collegiate athletics events when she could.
Surviving are her husband, Howard; sons Brian and Mark (Sherri), both of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren Matthew Weatherly of Omaha, Ryan Weatherly of Seattle and Victoria Weatherly of Houston; brothers Rex (Karen) Voegtlin and Steve (Cori) Voegtlin and sisters Connie Poundstone, Shirley Voegtlin Converti and Jennifer Beireis; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two special aunts, Ethel Voegtlin and Gladys Vorrath.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m.Thursday, June 22 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand View Christian School, 2405 N.E. 46th Ave., Des Moines.
