The Life of August C Fleury

August C. Fleury age 92, passed away on June 18th, 2017.

Decorated WWII Army veteran of the 8th Army Aircorp and the 11th Armored Div. 3rd Army,  Bronze Star Recipient.

Beloved and loving husband of Mildred (nee Holmes), sharing 71 & ½ years of marriage. Beloved Father of John (Marie), Steven, Phyllis Morrissey (the late Robert), Thomas (Evelyn) and the late William. Also survived by his  granddaughters Dana and Jamie Fleury, Lesley Jenkins (Ian), Great Grandchildren Amanda Fleury, Emily, Ashley and Matthew Jenkins, and Great-Great Granddaughter Amelia Fleury-Spadel. Also survived by sisters-in-law Mary and Joan Fleury and many nieces and nephews.

Retired machinist at Pringle Electric Co., 40 year volunteer driver for Aid For Friends. Former member of Tri-State Jazz Society. Gus was a devoted and supportive family man, and inseparable companion to his wife Mildred for 75 years, and a caring father.

Gus was an old-school gentleman with a generous, loving, kind heart and friendly demeanor. To know him was to love him. Children flocked to him and his fun, playful nature. Gus was a true Mr. Fix-it and always ready with a helping hand. He was self-taught and did extensive home renovations. He loved to whistle and had an amazing range and repertoire of tunes. Gus loved family camping, hiking, traveling, bicycling, reading, classical music and opera, astronomy and old cowboy movies. He was a meticulous dresser and a very patient man.

He was the last survivor of 11 children of Henry and Matilda Fleury. The last leaf on the tree, our dear, sweet Gus will be deeply missed.

 All services and burial will be held in private.
