The Life of CLARA MAXINE PINEGAR HODGES

Clara Maxine Pinegar Hodges (Mickey) passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in Tacoma, WA. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Wilbur and Clara Pinegar on April 19, 1932, the 6th of 10 children. Mickey married Richard (Dick) Hodges on August 27, 1950, and together they had four children, Richard, Thomas, Dan, and Peggy.

In 1961, they packed up their family and moved to California, where they began worshipping at the Azusa Church of Christ. Mickey made custom drapery for the rich and famous of the Hollywood / Los Angeles area, including a pair for James Garner’s Maverick set trailer. The family spent many Sunday afternoons hiking in the foothills around their home in Covina, CA. By 1965 the desire to be near their extended family called them home to Iowa. In 1992 she ventured out to Tacoma, WA but Iowa was calling and she had made plans to move back “home” at the end of May.

Mickey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dick, her son, Thomas, parents, Wilbur and Clara, and by her siblings, Bill, Alfred, Albert, Charlie, Joe, Barbara, Rosemary, and Larry. She is survived by sons Rick (Connie), Dan (Shelley), daughter Peggy Horner (Fred), brother Russell (Jane), sisters-in-law, Maurine, Viola, and Becky, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 26th at 10:00 AM, at Highland Memory Gardens, 1 NE 60th Ave in Des Moines, IA, followed by a Memorial at the Ankeny Church of Christ, 224 SW 3rd St, in Ankeny.
