Lena Iorio “Leah” Aleksandrowicz

Lena “Leah” Aleksandrowicz, 89, of Pensacola FL, died  May 11, 2017.  Leah was born and raised in  Philadelphia,  the only child of Italian immigrants. She learned at an early age the value of education. Leah loved nursing and became an RN in 1949. A life-long learner, Leah continued her education, earning her Bachelor degree in Nursing and two graduate  degrees. Her first was from Johns Hopkins in Nursing Education and Counseling. She then studied Nursing Administration at George Washington University. She was a member of Mensa and extremely proud of her profession. Leah retired as Senior Vice President of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boston, MA in 1997. After retiring she moved full time to her home on Cape Cod, and then to Pensacola in 2011 to be closer to family.

Preceded in death by her son, Philip Brown, survivors include her daughter, Carolyn (Jerry) Miller; grandsons, John (Kelly) Miller, Christopher (Jennifer) Brown, Adam (Tiffany) Brown: and four great grandchildren. In addition to family, Leah leaves behind many friends who will miss her generous and kind spirit. Funeral services were held in Pensacola. Leah will be buried in her family’s plot at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, PA.

The family will receive friends at 12:30 Tues May 23 with a Service at 1 PM at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington, 2900 State Rd., Drexel Hill. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Anne’s Catholic Church Restoration Fund.
