The Life of KATHRYN MARIE COFFIN
Kathryn (Kay) Coffin passed away peacefully May 5, 2017, at the age of 95. She was born April 17, 1922, to Alfred and Kathryn Anderson in Yankton, South Dakota. She was married 67 years to Howard Coffin who preceded her in death.
Kay lived her life in Des Moines. She and Howard enjoyed traveling the United States in their Avion.
Kay is survived by her children, Myrna (Will) Vatnsdal, Fred (Kathy) Coffin, and Margaret (Ron) Russell; grandchildren, Stephanie Faoro, Ted Vatnsdal, Courtney Sharp, Chad Coffin, Chris Coffin, Jim Jeambey, and Jennifer Spencer; great-grandchildren, Josephine Faoro, Maxwell Faoro, Charlotte Faoro, Alex Vatnsdal, Emma Vatnsdal, Nick Sharp, Beth Murken, Chloe Coffin, Isabell Coffin, Chase Spencer, Katy Mae Spencer, Carter Spencer, Elizabeth Jeambey, Rebecca Jeambey, and Isabella Jeambey.
Services will be held Friday, May 12, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., with a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary of Nazareth, 4600 Meredith Drive in Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Benedictine Convent: Sacred Heart Monastery, 1005 W. 8th Street, Yankton, SD 57078, or to HCI Care Services, 2910 30th Street, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
