The Life of Clara Mackie

Mackie, Clara (nee Buffum) “Buffy”, 89, of West Brandywine Twp., died peacefully Friday, April 28, 2017. Buffy was a real California girl, loved the sunshine and warn weather. She was an avid bridge player, and loved to swim and ride horses. She was passionate about helping others, and a volunteer at both Paoli and Riddle Memorial Hospitals. She was a board member of the Wistar Institute and a member of the Lineage Committee of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Alan, and her brothers, George Allen Buffum and Edwin Beers Buffum, and survived by daughters, Joan Mackie Heyburn (John Heyburn) and Carolyn Mackie Appelbe (Bill Appelbe), and grandchildren, Ian and Erin Appelbe. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 19th at 2:30 p.m. at The Auditorium at Freedom Village, 25 Freedom Blvd., Coatesville, PA  19320. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wistar Institute, Riddle Memorial Hospital, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or the FVB Scholarship Fund for Employees of Freedom Village.
