The Life of Michael Welehorsky

Michael G. Welehorsky, 64, of Naugatuck entered eternal rest on Feb. 20, 2017 at Wolcott View Manor. He was the beloved husband of Sharon Rector Welehorsky. Michael was born in Bridgeport on February 27, 1952, son of the late Michael and Helen (Hanish) Welehorsky. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy and aspired to be a ship’s captain. He was a graduate of Fairfield University and Southern CT State University with degrees in Marine Biology and Mechanical Engineering. He was a mechanical engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft for over 37 years, and was proud to have worked on Marine One. Michael was a communicant of River Valley Baptist Church in Ansonia. He enjoyed reading the Bible, tinkering with tools and math problems. His greatest joy was in spending time with his beloved family and sharing trips to the zoo, Mystic, Lake Quassapaug, and Columbia, SC. In addition to his beloved wife, Sharon, he is survived by his sons, Caleb and Joshua Welehorsky of Naugatuck; stepson, Alex Uhl of San Diego CA; daughters, Kendra and Abigail Welehorsky of Naugatuck, and Nicole van Order and her husband Brandon, of San Diego, CA; and sisters, Maryann Welehorsky of Bridgeport, and Linda Gaudreau and her husband William of New Milford. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday Feb. 23 at 10 am directly at River Valley Baptist Church 355 Main St. Ansonia, with Pastor David J. Barker officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. Calling hours will be held on Wed. Feb. 22, from 4-7:00pm at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home from 47 Washington Ave. Seymour.
