The Life of Ann Tkacz

Ann ( Huzar) Tkacz, age 92 , of Oxford, the beloved wife of the late John Tkacz , entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Shady Knoll Health Care Center of Seymour, with her loving family by her side. She was born in New Haven on April 18, 1924. She was the beloved daughter of the late Konstantyn and Mary (Ivaskewitz) Huzar. She was a devout communicant of St. Peter and St. Paul Church of Ansonia. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, John Tkacz, and her daughter Joanne Tkacz Felix of Hammond, Louisiana as well as her sisters Helen Zibluk of Oxford,CT and Eva Grusz of Seymour,CT. She is survived by children ­ Linda Tkacz Miller and son­in­law Jack Miller of Orange,Va, Donald Tkacz and daughter­in­law Robin Tkacz of Seymour, CT, Robert Tkacz and daughter­in­law Marianne Tkacz of Seymour,CT and her son William Tkacz of Wolcott,CT. as well as 9 grandchildren, 15 great­grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ann grew up on the Huzar Farm in Oxford. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1942 and showing her independent spirit left home and journeyed to Washington ,D.C to work as a secretary for the War Department. After returning to CT, she married a local young man , John Tkacz, who had recently returned from military service in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Ann and John went on to raise their family in Seymour and later Oxford,CT. She will be remembered as a hard working, independent, humble, and dedicated mother who was kind, and selfless in her dedication to her family and especially to her children. We will always miss her vast store of knowledge, her eagerness to engage in sparring political discussions and the delightful Ukrainian food she so famously prepared. Ann will be sadly missed by her family and friends but will remain forever in our hearts. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Ann's Life will be held at St. Peter and St. Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia, on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Committal Service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery Chapel, Ansonia. Friends and relatives may call at the Miller­Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. prior to the Mass. A Panakhyda Service will be held Thursday morning at 9:45 a.m. Memorial Gifts in Ann's memory may be made to The St. Peter and St. Paul Preservation Fund through the funeral hom
