The Life of THEODORE ROBERT LYONS
Theodore, 92, passed away on December 10, 2016. His family will greet friends beginning at 1 P.M Friday, December 16, at First Christian Church, with his memorial service beginning at 2. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Theodore Robert Lyons, the son of Harry and Elizabeth (Enlow) Lyons, was born September 11, 1924 in Des Moines. Following his high school graduation , he served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War 2. While on leave, he married Virginia Wellborn on February 18, 1944.
Theodore had a long career as a dental technician. He enjoyed woodcarving, camping, the outdoors, and square dancing. He was also very involved with First Christian Church, serving as an elder and teaching Sunday School. Theodore loved his family, and his black dog, Mandy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings.
Theodore is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Virginia; three children; Rick (Sherry) of Eugene, OR, Kathleen Lyons Martin of Lake City, MN, and Jeffrey (Kathleen) of Des Moines; many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren ; and sisters, Patricia Dutcher of St. Petersburg, FL.
