Glenda Lee (Smith) Carpenter
January 8, 1947 - November 21, 2016
Mom, grandma, MeMe and Ding-a-ling gained her wings and flew home on November 21, 2016.
She was welcomed into her forever home by many loves of her life including her loving husband, William "Bill" Carpenter, her mother-Elizabeth "Betsy" Turner, her brother-Robert "Bobby" Smith, her "sister"-Beverly Corbin and many other loved ones.
Glenda retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years as a rural mail carrier several years ago.
While our hearts ache and she will be missed dearly we promised her we would all continue to make her proud by doing the right things in life. To carry out this wish are: Son- Her professional bowler- Scott Carpenter, daughter-her favorite personal "nursie"- Shawn Pearcy (Michael Pearcy-"Mikey"), her favorite baby girl and daily lunch buddy – Sarina Whitaker, her very special grandchildren-Travis Carpenter and Mikayla and Meghan Whitaker and her more recent love, great grandchild Leighton William Wyatt ("Leigh,Leigh"), her dog-Charlie "Brown", grand dogs-Callie, Bailee, Nevaeh and Snoopy.
Special thanks to her very special friend for all of his help through the years Harvey Sylvester. Also thanks to the loving care provided by the Olathe Medical Center Hospice House, Deanna Durbian, Shelley Carpenter, Carrie Pitts and Becky Corbin Ewy during the last several days for their support and help.
Meme''s last wish was to be late to her own funeral and that wish will be carried out.
Now fly away Meme….We will always love you.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, November 26, 2016 at the McGilley-Frye Funeral Home 105 E. Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Burial in Olathe Memorial Cemetery 738 N. Chestnut Street Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 25th at the Funeral Home.
