The Life of MARY MARGARET BRIGGS
Mary M. Briggs, 92, passed away Wednesday morning, on November 23, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born in Des Moines on April 17, 1924, to Samuel and Maria (Romitti) Ceretti.
Mary grew up on the south side of Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1943. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years, retiring in 1982.
She was united in marriage to Paul Briggs in 1951 and they were blessed with two sons, James and Michael. They made their home in the Highland Park area of Des Moines. After their retirement, they enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida.
Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a life-long member of the Catholic Church.
Mary is survived by her sons; James and Michael (Janet) Briggs; grandchildren Thomas Briggs and Laura (Matt) Hempel; great grandchildren Cameron and Caitlyn Briggs and Julia and Ethan Hempel. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Paul; her parents; sisters Anne Geno, Gena Ceretti and Erma Law; brother Attlio Ceretti and infant siblings; Mario, Geno and Rena.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
Mary’s family would like to thank the staff of Trinity Center at Luther Park for the excellent care she received.
