Richard Davis, age 86, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at his home in Des Moines. Richard was born October 25, 1930 to Ben and Anna (Holzclow) Davis.
Richard proudly served his country in the Korean War. After his time in the service he started his career at Beatrice Foods as a truck driver. He then went on to be a machinist at Firestone Tire; retiring in the late 1970’s. In retirement he continued to work as a maintenance coordinator for Benton Bank and managed Westview Heights Mobile Home Park. Richard took great pride in his lawn, flower gardens, and enjoyed spending time with his dog.
Richard is survived by his son, Bruce Davis; daughter, Karen (Brian) Ihnen; step-daughters, Fay (Stephen) Fonte and Lora Herweh; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma; parents; brothers, Turner and Tom Davis; and sister, Loraine Davis.
Graveside services will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday November 29, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
