The Life of Judy Kay Dole

Judy Kay Dole, 69, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 14, 2016. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. 

Judy was born on July 27, 1947 in Hampton, Iowa to Arthur Slagle and Jeanne (Christiansen) Slattenow. She attended and graduated from Iowa Falls High School. She married the love of her life Sam Dole on June 19, 1966 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Through this union their two children were born Diane and Larry. Together with their family they moved to Kansas in 1989. After moving Judy worked for Gear For Sports until her retirement in 2014. She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting and camping. 

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Slagle and Jeanne (Christiansen) Slattenow, brother, Darrell Slagle and great granddaughter, Baylee Kay Garrett. Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Sam Dole of the home, daughter, Diane Burnett and her husband David of Olathe, Kansas and son Larry Dole and his wife Desiree of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her 9 grandchildren: Shawn (Jessica) Dole, Chelsea Dole, Samantha (DJuan) Burnett, Justin (Destiny) Burnett, Pamela Otto, Laura Beer, Crystal Weideman, Susan (Terry) Smith and William Weideman. Judy also leaves behind her 14 great grandchildren: Jaelynn Dole, Isaiah Dole, Eli Dole, Zoie Garrett, Phoenix Oliver, Sayge Taylor, Juhvon Oliver, LaTrail Kiesling, Kaylee Otto, Ashton Otto, Lexi Beer, Aryana Jewell, Scarlett Jewell and Brody Smith. She will be sadly missed by her 4 brothers and 3 sisters: Gary Slagle, Jim (Kerry) Slagle, Sharon Steinkamp, Bertha (Dominique) Lakin, Brenda Ross, Bruce (Cheryl) Slagle and Brian (Tracey) Slagle. 

Judy will be cremated according to her wishes. "A Celebration of Life" will be 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. A private family Inurnment will take place at a later date in Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Visitation 5:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Olathe Medical Center (Hospice) Charitable Foundation 20375 West 151st Street Olathe, Kansas 66061.
