The Life of MARJORIE MAE COX-BAHR

“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Marjorie Cox-Bahr passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 5, 2016 answering God’s call home and now all her loved ones begin to remember and celebrate her life. She was born on November 23, 1929 to Glenn and Rena Brown in Des Moines and grew up into adulthood in the Highland-Oak Park neighborhood. She graduated from North High School in 1947 and married her high school sweet heart, Lavern (Whitey) Cox. To this union were born three children, Matthew (Tami), Joel (Susan) and Laurie Greco (Louis). Taking care of the children as well as the immaculate home were Marge’s love and passion. Heartbreak struck this happy family when in 1975, Whitey passed away due to a severe pneumonia illness, leaving Marge alone to see the children through school and college. Later in 1982, when Matt married Tami, Marge met and later married Tami’s father Elmer Bahr. They lived in Des Moines and later moved to Florida where they enjoyed the sun and Florida lifestyle.

Marge’s failing health later forced her to move to the Jacksonville area where son, Matt and wife, Tami lived and cared for her until her death.

Marge will be remembered by friends, extended and close family as a hardworking, loving Mother, wife and sister.

Her body will be returned to Des Moines where she will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens with a private graveside service.
