The Life of CANDY ANN PLEW

Candy Ann Plew, 62, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church, of which she was a member. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.

Candy was born February 7, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa, to James and Ardith (Lint) Gardner. She attended North High School with the class of 1972 but chose to graduate in 1971. Candy married Jim Plew on June 14, 1980 in Des Moines. She worked as an Administrator for Trinity Center at Luther Park for 27 years, retiring in 2014. Candy was greatly respected as an administrator as well as by the healthcare community. She was a member and past president of Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

Candy was proud of her Irish heritage and loved everything IRISH. Her focus and passion in life was her faith and family, especially her grandchildren.

Candy is survived by her husband, Jim Plew, three daughters, Melissa (Gabe) Plew-Valtierra of Ankeny, Deanne Plew of Johnston, and Dana (Andrea) Plew of Urbandale; five grandchildren, Bryce Plew of Johnston, Taitum Kreitzinger of Ankeny, Jaylin Valtierra of Grand Forks, ND, and Anthony and Ayden Valtierra of Ankeny; and her siblings, Marvin (Mary ) Razor of Omaha, NE, James (Joanne) Miller of Frankfort, IN and Tonda (Bert) Ryan of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church where a vigil service with a rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Contributions may be made to St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church.
