The Life of RICHARD LEE GOREHAM

Richard “Dick” Goreham, 79, passed away at his home in the arms of his loving wife on Thursday, August 4, 2016.

Dick was born May 13, 1937 in Grinnell, Iowa to B. Sheldon and Ada Goreham. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955 and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Dick operated the family fishing lure business, Lazy Ike Corporation in Fort Dodge, Iowa for 13 years. He later was named president and CEO of Mid Central Plastics in West Des Moines, also a family business. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be remembered for his fun loving, ornery sense of humor.

Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy; children, R.J. (Melissa) Goreham, Kelly Jo (Kent) Adams, David Goreham and Michael (Julie) Goreham; grandchildren, Kristina Goreham-Murto, Corey Weitzman, Chelsea Goreham, Chase Goreham, Taylor Adams, Lakota Adams, Jessica Goreham and Sheldon Goreham; great-grandchildren, Megan Murto, Matthew Murto and Hunter Goreham; sister, Dee (Gary) Staples; brother, Bill (Jerri) Goreham; brother-in-law, Nick (Pauline) Street and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Dick will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 10th at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
