The Life of Florence Schlitter Bialek


Florence Bialek, 79, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2016, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the beloved wife of Robert D. Bialek. Mrs. Bialek was born in Derby on October 4, 1936, daughter of the late Harold and Florence Schlitter Hollingsworth. She was employed at Griffin Hospital for thirty years, retiring as Intensive Care Unit Clerk in 2001. Florence was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ansonia, serving as a member of the Vestry and assisted with its food pantry. She was also a member of Ansonia Rescue Medical Services and Ansonia Civil Defense and a Youth Advisor for their Junior Corp. In addition to her husband Robert, she is survived by a loving son, Robert D. Bialek and his wife Jeannie of Weston, MO, a loving daughter, Melanie Tanner and her husband Robert of Sandy Hook, brothers, Harold Hollingsworth of Denver, CO and William Hollingsworth of Alcova, WY, sisters, Dorothy Blake of Palm City, FL, Patricia McGuire and Linda Walters of Waterbury and Carol Coelho of Celebration, FL, cherished grandchildren, Ryan Tanner of Danbury, Heather Arsenault of Canterbury, NH, Jordan and Sydney Bialek of MO as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Batza. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday August 4, 2016, from 4 to 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI­RICCIUTI/BEDNAR­OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, her funeral will commence at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a service of Requiem Eucharist at 10:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church in Ansonia. Interment will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.
