The Life of ROY DALE WARNING

Roy Dale Warning, 88, of Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa went to be with the Lord, and family that proceeded him in death, on August 1st, 2016. Roy was born to Opal (McDowell) Warning and Roy Warning on June 18th, 1928.

He is remembered by family and friends as “the most kindest man”, and by his loving wife of 66 years, Isabelle (Virden) Warning as “so good to me, my best friend”. A child born during the depression who lost his father very young, Roy learned and roll modeled the importance of true human kindness. As he said many times the success of his family during hard times and loss was the kindness shown by others. That kindness lived in his heart forever.

He entered Drake University with a Business Major after an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1948. He pursued his accounting skills working for many major companies in the state of Iowa before retiring from MidAmerican Energy in 1985.

Roy enjoyed family, gardening, sewing and most importantly helping others. After his retirement, he went to work caring for hospice patients in their home.

Roy is survived by his wife Isabelle (Virden) Warning; three children, Daniel (Jennifer) Warning, Rhonda (Randy) Ries, and Janet Naset-Payne; eight grandchildren, Chad (Brandy) Warning, Brent (Katie) Warning, John Warning, Ryan Ries, Reggie Ries, Katie (Zachery Peterson) Naset, Adam Naset, and Jason Naset; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Altoona, Iowa on Thursday August 4th, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm preceding funeral services starting at 1:30 pm with burial at Highland Memorial Gardens, Des Moines, Iowa following the service.

Donations may be made in memory of Roy Dale Warning to Bishop Drumm Care Facility, Johnston, Iowa.
