The Life of LARRY WESLEY HALL

Larry Wesley Hall, 81, of Scottsdale, Arizona died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born January 20, 1935 in Newton, Iowa, the son of Wesley Frederick Hall and Cecil Fern (Baker) Hall.

Larry was a 1953 graduate of Boone High School and was very active in Sports. Playing Little League baseball and four years of track, High School Basketball and Football. He served in the Air Force 4 years in San Antonio, Texas 1953 to 1957. Larry had a passion for cars. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, he pursued and excelled in the car dealership business. Larry owned a dealership in Fort Madison, Iowa before moving to Arizona for drier air and summer weather year round. He managed a car dealership in Arizona and continued in the car business until health issues forced his retirement. Larry loved boating and owned many large and small boats. He also enjoyed following NASCAR Racing, attending races regularly. While Larry followed the Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona Cardinals and the Phoenix Suns he also remained loyal to his Iowa Hawkeyes.

His family includes his children Scott W. Hall of Cleveland, Ohio, Catherine J. Hall of Baltimore, Maryland and Jennifer(Sean) Drinkwater of Ladera Ranch, California; 4 grandchildren Scotty & Sammy Hall, Mya & Tyler Drinkwater; his sister, Sandra Powers of Oskaloosa, Iowa; a cousin Gretchen Stark of Boone, Iowa; several nieces & nephews; his ex-wife, Karen Hall of Scottsdale, Arizona and many dear friends. He had a special bond with his Phoenix neighbors who treated him as family.

He was preceded in death by his is father Wesley in 1979 at the age of 80, mother Cecil in 2008 at the age of 105, and brother in law Carty Powers at the age of 66.

According to his wishes he was cremated and a graveside memorial service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa at a later date.
