The Life of BETTY MAUREEN WILLARD LONG

Betty M. Long passed away peacefully on July 7, 2016. She was born to Mr. & Mrs. Harvey D. Willard on December 3, 1930. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Willard & Ethel Willard; her brother, Robert Overton; sister, Bonnie Etter; son, Tim Dawson; and her husband, Samuel D. Long.

Betty is survived by her children, Vanessa McDaniels, Maureen Englund (Burt), Harvey Woody, and Valrey Enos; grandkids, Cindy Reasoner (Gary Geisinger), Jason Reasoner (Amy Reasoner), Brian Richmond, Leona Connell, Bud Richmond, Crystal Spicer, and Joshua Englund; and great-grandkids, Chelsea Reasoner, Matt Reasoner, Cheyene Reasoner, Christian Sousely, Jason Reasoner, Jr., Jonas Reasoner, Caleb Reasoner, Jacob Reasoner, Tammy (Brian) Richmond, Destiny Richmond, Darwin Connell, Skyler Spicer, Johnny Spicer, Katie Spicer, Daryl Englund, Joshua Englund, Jr., Elizabeth Englund, Jarend Leisoner, and Layla Curtis.

Betty was a member of Calvary Apostolic Church in Des Moines for approximately 50 years. She loved God and lived her life serving God. Betty was family oriented. Aside from living for God, Betty’s family was the most important thing in her life. She loved big holidays with her family and to laugh and joke around. She was an avid reader, mostly true crime & mystery novels. Betty made sure to always read her Bible everyday. She enjoyed working on puzzles in her puzzle books. Betty was loving, caring, and giving of her love and time to others. She was one of a kind person, and God broke the mold when he made her. She will forever be missed. We love you.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Calvary Apostolic Church, 2611 Easton Blvd, in Des Moines, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family in loving memory of Betty.
