The Life of RONALD EDMOND LAWRENCE

Ronald “Ron’’ Edmond Lawrence, 66, of Springfield, formerly of Wheatland, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in Mercy Hospital Springfield.

He was born Oct. 24, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to Roy and Ellyn Lawrence, who preceded him in death.

Ronald was born with Down Syndrome. He attended many schools and workshops in his early life in different states as his father was a salesman and was transferred often.

His mother saw the need for Ronald to be placed in local facilities for Down Syndrome and handicapped persons so that he would have friends he could associate with. He lived his later years in several special needs homes including Richland, Lebanon and Springfield.

Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Richard (Josephine), Robert (Rosemary), Mary Ellen Carlson (Don) and by four nephews and two nieces, eight grand nieces and three grand nephews.

Funeral services for Ron Lawrence will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2016, at the Pomme de Terre United Methodist Church, Hermitage (Carsons Corner) Mo. with the Rev. Ellen Hoff officiating, under the direction of Hathaway-Peterman Funeral Home of Wheatland.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. June 21 at Highland Memorial Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorials may be made to the Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks.
