The Life of JUDY ANN BIRZER

Judy A. Birzer, 73, of Fort Dodge, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 Highland Memorial Garden, Des Moines. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
 
Judy is survived by her husband, Frank; son, Andrew (Samantha) Birzer of Fort Dodge; daughter, Jennifer (Jim) Sarringar of Sibley; grandchildren, Stephanie Birzer; Theresa Birzer; Colin Birzer; Garrett Sarringar; Henry Sarringar; Jack Sarringar; and grandbaby Sarringar due in July.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ruth (Miller) Fleming; daughter, Stacy Birzer; and sister, Bobbie Little.

Judy A. Fleming was born November 10, 1942 in Des Moines. She was raised and educated in Des Moines, graduating from East High School in 1961. She attended the University of Iowa. On June 8, 1968, she was united in marriage to Frank Birzer. The couple established their home in Des Moines. They then moved to East Grand Forks, MN until moving to Fort Dodge in 1978.

Judy worked for Drs. Sutton and Secor for many years and later at Medical Imaging and Radiology. She also was a Secretary for Corpus Christi Church Office and St. Olaf Church Office for several years. She was a member of Holy Trinity. Judy enjoyed playing bridge and cheering on the Hawkeyes and Gaels. She had a passion for gardening and traveling. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. Judy treasured her family, and her grandchildren were the light of her world.
