The Life of CLEO MARIE FOSTER

Cleo Marie (Cunningham) Foster passed away Wednesday, March 16th, 2016 surrounded by family and loved ones. Cleo was born September 29th, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa to Sarah Christine and Clarence Berlin Cunningham. She graduated from Woodside High school, and then worked at American Optical for the following three years. Then she was a supervisor with Farm Bureau for the next ten years. She wanted to stay home with adopted daughters Debra Ann from Des Moines, and Christy Lynn of San Francisco.

In 1974, Cleo opened and operated her own employment agency in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After that she trained people in sales of Fuller brush items, with her final jobs before retiring in 2005 were in telemarketing. Where she could so eloquently exercise her amazing gift of gab.

In 2011, Cleo was re-united with an old friend, Jim Love. Jim was her best friend, companion, and the love of her life. He was sent from heaven just for her and together they possessed a magic envied through time.

Cleo was more than passionate in the love and prosperity of her family and friends. She was an accomplished daughter, a caring sister, devoted spouse, selfless mother, proud grandmother, and an amazing friend. She was strong, persistent, and optimistic through life. She always made time for others, and kept the light on at Avon. Cleo''s life is cherished, and she will be loved and missed for eternity.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Clarence Cunningham; three brothers, Verles (Gene) Cunningham, Albin Cunningham, and Carl and Renzie Cunningham. Cleo is survived by significant other, Jim Love; two daughters, Debra Barrier of Elkhart, Iowa and Christy Wilson (Paul Wilson) of Underwood, Iowa; grandchildren, Joseph Barrier, Jessica Barrier, Skyler Wilson, and Sierra Wilson; great-grandchildren, Emily Grace, Dominic Joseph, Nadia Marie, and Karolina Lee; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, acquaintances, and a very special sister-in-law, Wilma Cunningham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the America Diabetes Association in loving memory of Cleo.
