The Life of Gerald Patrick Hayes

Gerald Patrick Hayes, 72, of Olathe, Kansas died February 11, 2016 at Lesuire Terrace Retirement Facility, where the entire staff, along with Heartland Hospice, graciously guided Jerry & his family through these difficult times.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Bernie, three sons: Christopher, Ronald and Scott, and two step-children: Amber and her husband John Sommers and Zachary Sutton. He is also survived by his older sister: Marlene and her husband Robert Keating and four grandchildren: Noah Hayes, Leilani, Zayne and Imani Sommers. As well as many nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Jerry is a veteran of the United States Army. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, the only son of Edward Patrick Hayes and Mary McGeeney Hayes, where he was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and School. He attended Rockhurst High School. Jerry took great pride in raising his three sons as a single father. At the age of 50 he met the love of his life. His ornery streak will be greatly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am, Wednesday, February 17th at St. Paul Catholic Church, 900 S. Honeysuckle Dr, Olathe, with burial following in Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Tuesday, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula St, Olathe, where the Vigil Prayers and Rosary will be prayed at 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or the National Parkinson Foundation.
