The Life of RICHARD DEAN ROSE

Richard Rose, 88, passed away in Des Moines, Iowa, on February 24, 2016. He was born to Frank and Katherine Rose in Des Moines on December 16, 1927.

Dick served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from Des Moines Public Schools after serving as teacher and Principal at various schools throughout the district.

Dick was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church and served as a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He enjoyed reading, fishing, camping, and traveling to Texas. Dick also enjoyed being home and spending time in his yard.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 65 ½ years, Patricia; sons, Michael (Penny) Rose and Jeff (Nina) Rose; grandchildren, Alan Rose, Sarah Rose, Evie Rose, and Abby Rose; great-grandson, Zachary; as well as a host of other family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marjorie Lemon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 321 Euclid Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
