The Life of W H CHASE

W.H. "Bill" Chase, 92, passed away February 16, 2016. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Ankeny Presbyterian Church (317 SE Trilein Dr, Ankeny, IA 50021). Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 West First St. Ankeny, IA 50023).

Bill was born on January 2, 1924 in Trenton, Missouri to Cliff and Alice Chase. The family moved to El Reno, Oklahoma in 1937. Bill graduated from El Reno High School. Bill joined the Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. After he was discharged, Bill came to Iowa and attended Iowa State. He graduated in March of 1951 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.

Bill began his career with John Deere in March of 1951 as a supervisor at the John Deere Des Moines works. He held a variety of positions at the John Deere Ottumwa Works, John Deere Horicon Works, and John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works; he was transferred to the John Deere factory in Saran, France as Assistant General Manager. When he returned from France he worked for the John Deere Plow Planter Works in Moline, IL as a Manager of Manufacturing and Plant Engineering. Bill retired from the Plow Planter Works in March of 1981 completing thirty years with John Deere.

Bill had the privilege of going on the HONOR flight in October 2009.

Bill married Marjorie Ann Campbell in Ankeny, Iowa in the First Congregational Church on September 2, 1950. They had two sons, Thomas "Tom" of Des Moines, and John, now deceased.

His hobbies were reading the newspaper, golfing and yard work. He was a member of the Ankeny Presbyterian Church.

Bill is survived by his wife, Marjorie, son Tom, a niece and two nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, John, parents and two sisters.
