The Life of LAVERNE FREDRICK WARREN
LaVerne F. Warren “Vern,” 92 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Taylor House.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Vern was born March 11, 1923, to Fred and Mary Warren in Des Moines. Vern served in the Air Force during WWII before working at Cobbs Manufacturing for 42 years. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, and Polka Club of Iowa.
Vern enjoyed square, round and line dancing. He was also an avid fisherman and spent many happy hours at the lake with family and friends.
Vern was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Virginia; his parents, 3 sisters, and 6 brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Shelley Kesling (Joseph); son, Britt Warren (Molly); 5 grandsons, 5 great-grandchildren; and long-time companion and dance partner, Grace Huffman.
Memorial contributions may be directed to All Saints Church in loving memory of Vern.
