The Life of RALPH THEODORE PITTMAN

Ralph T. Pittman, 88, passed away on February 4, 2016, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. He was born September 30, 1927, in Des Moines, to Lucille and Ralph Pittman.

Ralph served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Bill Haltom Motor and Marine as a mechanic prior to working for Townsend Engineering as a machinist for numerous years. Ralph was a Ford man through and through and had a great passion for cars and trains. He loved watching and attending NASCAR races, traveling with his wife Patricia, and camping trips with his children as they were growing up.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; children, Dennis (Donna) Pittman, Diana (Mike) Clifton, Steve (Susan) Conrath, Kathy St. John, and Karen (Matt) Hollebrands; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence Pittman; as well as his four-legged friend, Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; and sister, Vera.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
