The Life of Joseph Sr. Persico

Joseph Persico Sr., 90, entered into eternal rest on January 24, 2016, in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna Fadden Persico. Mr. Persico was born in Ansonia on March 14, 1925, son of the late Francesco and Maria Signore Persico. A resident of Ansonia and Seymour his entire life, he was employed as a machinist at Avco Lycoming in Stratford for thirty-five years until his retirement in 1982. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WW II in the American Theatre, European Theatre and Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Joe was a member of the Avco Retirees Club having served as president. He enjoyed bowling and was a fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants and UConn women’s basketball. He is survived by loving sons, Joseph Persico Jr. (Gail) of Monroe and Gary Persico Sr. (Margaret) of Oxford, cherished grandchildren, Justin Persico, M.D. (Janice), Gary Persico Jr., Jillian Persico, Danielle Miller (Bryon), Dan Carter (Jill) and Melissa Carter, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Frank, Salvatore, Pasquale and Francis Persico and sisters, Mary Ciarlo, Carmela Kennedy and Edith Donofrio. Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 29, 2016, from 4-7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, his funeral will take place at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Ansonia.
