The Life of SHIRLEY LEA DAVENPORT
Shirley passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines. She was 85.
Shirley was born January 26, 1930 in Des Moines. At the age of 17 she married the love of her life, Bill David Davenport. They had three sons Billy, Tommy and Johnny. Her family was her world. At 4’11” Shirley was a ball of energy, love and stubbornness. She loved to laugh and joke. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t attempt and taking no for an answer was never an option.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Billy (Amy) of Tucson, AZ and Johnny (Karla) of Adel, IA; daughter-in-law, Naomi; eight grandchildren, Brian, Patricia, Josh, Adam, Aaron, Theresa, Rusty, and T.J.; 15 great-grandchildren; niece, nephew and brother-in-law, Robert Cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Vernie and Mildred Bacon; and son, Tommy.
Shirley was a sweet and caring person. To know her was to love her. She will be missed.
A private burial was held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines
