The Life of VERA RUTH HUNT
Vera R. Hunt, 91, passed from this life in the company of loved ones on Friday January 15th, 2016.
Vera Ruth McNeilly was born on March 23rd, 1924 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The third of twelve children born to Andrew and Almina McNeilly. She graduated in 1942 from Sacred Heart School and later moved to Omaha Nebraska to attend a vocational school.
There she met and married John J. Hunt on January 26th, 1947. The couple moved to Des Moines and established their home in the Highland Park area where they raised their family and lived for 60 years before moving to Newton to be close to family.
Vera is survived by her two children, John (Bonny) Hunt of Minneapolis, MN and Barbara (Randy) Ferguson, and their children, Landon (Nicole) Ferguson, Collin and Lauren Ferguson all of Newton, IA; sisters, Mary Troup of Keizer, OR, Elizabeth Coppinger of Fort Dodge, IA, and Marie (John) Meyers of Orofino, ID.
Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Hunt, after 68 years of marriage; parents, Andrew and Almina McNeilly; brothers, Robert, James, Richard, John, Kenneth, Thomas, Edward, and Leo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue, Des Moines with visitation beginning one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
