The Life of George Stephen Gnall


George Stephen Gnall, age 86, beloved husband of Eva Plaskon Gnall, died peacefully on January 3, 2016 at the Shady Knoll Heath Care Center. Born in Taylor, PA on December 25, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Mary Roman Gnall. Mr. Gnall was a longtime resident of Shelton and proud U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a sheet metal mechanic for the former AVCO Lycoming Co. for many years until his retirement in 1994. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, but was usually found in his basement workshop fixing whatever needed to be fixed or working on a home improvement project. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Gail L. Briggs and her husband, Mark of MD, George J. Gnall of Terryville, and Patricia A. Herwig and her husband, Gary of MD; as well as a cherished grandson, Nicholas M. Briggs of MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 9:00 AM in Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Ave., Ansonia. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call directly at Three Saints Church on Friday morning from 8:00 to 9:00 AM.
