The Life of Harriet Robins Rau


Harriet Ann (Robins) Rau, age 83, a longtime resident of Beacon Falls, passed away at Beacon Brook Health Center. She was widow of Martin G. Rau. Mrs. Rau was born in Derby, CT on January 19. 1932, daughter of the late Henry C. and Georgia (Lewis) Robins. She had worked for the Naugatuck Daily News for over 20 years as well as the Ansonia Evening Sentinel Newspaper. Harriet was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church, a member of the Ladies Guild, and she had served on many town committees in Beacon Falls. She enjoyed reading, opera and classic movies. Mrs. Rau is survived by her four sons, George M. Rau of Deltona, FL, Robin M.. Rau of Beacon Falls, Henry O. Rau of Naugatuck, and Paul E. Rau of East Lyme; her four grandsons, Randy M. Rau, Timothy M. Rau, Matthew H. Rau, and Christopher R. Rau; her three granddaughters, Sara E. Wright, Emily Osterburg, and Carly E. Rau; and her five great grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 10:30a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald­Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Michael’s Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon falls, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:30a.m. to 10:30a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Friends of Beacon Falls Library, 10 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls, CT 06403.
