The Life of Lorinda Wiltse

Miss Lorinda Harmon was born in Liberty, Pa., July 4th, 1839. She was married to J. B. Weast in 1857. To this union five children were born, three boys and two girls, of whom M. E. Weast of this city; H. M. Weast of Harrington, Kansas; and Mrs. George E. Wise of North Yakimo, Wash., are still living.

Mr. J. B .Weast was killed on the skirmish line at Petersburg, Va., in 1864. His widow married B. P. Wiltse in 1866 and to this union nine children were born, six girls and three boys, of whom J .G. Wiltse, A. Wiltse, Mrs. Ed Burns and Mrs. Claude Chamberlain of this city and Mrs. George Berroth of Iola, Kansas, are still living. One sister also survives, Mrs. Sarah Whitaker, who lives four miles south of Gardner, Kansas.

Mr. B. P. Wiltse died in 1901. Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Wiltse came to Johnson county, Kansas in 1867, and settled four miles south of Gardner, where they lived for two years, when they moved to Spring Hill, Kansas, and lived there till the fall of 1873, when they sold out and went to Morrison county. They sold out in Morrison county in 1880 and came to Olathe that year and have since lived at 611 north Pine street.

Mrs. Wiltse was buried from her home last Tuesday, March 31st. The funeral was conducted by Rev. W. M. Elbrdge, of the Congregational church. A large number of relatives and friends were in attendance and all tendered heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved. E.
