M. V. Phillips died at his home on Buchanan street Wednesday morning at 3:30, after a long illness, suffering from lung trouble. Mr. Phillips was 67 years of age, a well known citizen of the county. No arrangements for funeral services as we go to press

OBITUARY.

Martin V. Phillips was born at North East, Erie county, Pa., June 5, 1840, and died at his home in Olathe, Kansas, May 13, 1908, aged 67 years, 11 months and 8 days, after a lingering illness of many weeks.

Mr. Phillips moved with his parents when nine years old to Laporte county, Ind., locating at Door Village. He was married to Mary H. Webber of Westville, Ind., February 13, 1860. Four children were bom to them, three sons and one daughter, the latter dying in infancy. Of the three sons, Myron and Carlos are residents of Olathe and Frank is a resident of Chicago.

Mr. Phillips came to Kansas in 1869, locating on a farm north east of Olathe and in 1891 moved to Olathe, where he has since resided. Mr. Phillips was a member of the order of Odd Fellows and also a member of the Grange. He' was an upright citizen, well and afvorably known throughout the county and his death is mourned by many warm friends.
