The following was written for last week's paper but like many other locals was crowded out owing to the encroachment upon our columns by the tax list:
 
Last Saturday evening about sun down Mr. D. W. Ross, an old geentleman living with M r. T. E. Rochester fell dead from a stroke of apoplexy. He had been at work and was just  returning from the barn to the house when he was observed to fall and by the time any one could get to him be was found to be lifeless. He was a very worthy gentleman and his sudden death is indeed sad.
