The Life of Jane Eloise Roberts

Jane Eloise (McKaig) Roberts 

Jane Eloise Roberts, 89, of Olathe, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Home, Olathe. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at McGilley and Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula St., Olathe with Reverend Mark Hawk officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6- 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. 

Jane Eloise McKaig was born July 12, 1916, on a farm four miles east of Gardner, and lived most of her life in Olathe. Eloise was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Olathe. In her lifetime, she worked as a bookkeeper for Johnson County, Kan., was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great­grandmother. 

Eloise was preceded in death by her father and mother, Arthur E. and Janie May (Kelly) McKaig; sister, Lucille Havenner; and brothers, Jay McKaig, Arthur McKaig, John McKaig, Donald McKaig and Lloyd McKaig. 

Eloise was untied in marriage to her husband of 70 years, Lloyd F. Roberts, on May 12, 1936, in Olathe, who survives. To this union was born three sons, Lloyd Neil Roberts (Helen) of Paola, Kan., Douglas Gail Roberts (Judy) of Olathe, and Barry Michael Roberts (Jeannette) of Lakewood, Colo, who survive. Also surviving are her sister, Eileen Kurtz, Gardner; brother, Eldon (Hoyt) McKaig of Olathe; grandchildren, Farell Jay Roberts of Paola, Kelly Lloyd Roberts (Hilary) of Spring Hill, Kan., Anne Michelle Canter (Gary), Duluth, Ga., and Angela Jonell Thrasher (Johnny) of Olathe; great grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Mentzel (Johnny), Nicole Elizabeth Roberts, Hunter Douglas Redmond, Mallory Jo Redmond and Lily Grace Thrasher, all of Olathe and Caitlin Melise Roberts of Osawatomie, Kan.; and one great-great-grandson, Wesley Taylor Mentzel of Olathe. 

The family wishes to thank the staff at Cedar Lake Village for their loving care of mother for four years. Also the staff at the Good Samaritan Home, doctors and nurses of Olathe Medical Center and Hospice of Olathe Medical Center for their care in her final days. 

The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center or the First Presbyterian Church of Olathe.
