The Life of Lloyd Fredrick Roberts

Lloyd Fredrick Roberts of Olathe, KS, passed away Monday, July 9, 2007 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park, KS. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held on 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church of Olathe, 621 S. Lee Ave. (at Hershey), with the Reverend Mark Hawke officiating. The Burial Service will follow at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. preceding the Service. Lloyd Fredrick Roberts was born April 24, 1915, on a farm near Bonita, KS and lived most of his life in Olathe, KS. Lloyd Fredrick was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Olathe. He was a godly man serving his Church as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, "Keeper of the Bell Tower" and fix-it man. Lloyd was retired from Phillips Petroleum, Kansas City, KS. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-greatgrandfather. Lloyd was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Jane Eloise (McKaig) Roberts; Father and Mother, James Fredrick and Stella Verne (Pruitt) Roberts; Sisters, Maxine Abell, Dorothy Melton Woods, and Lois Johnson; Brothers, Joe Roberts, Woody Roberts, and Harold ("Bugs") Roberts. Lloyd was united in marriage to Jane Eloise McKaig, on May 12, 1936, in Olathe. To this union was born three sons, Lloyd Neil Roberts (Helen) of Paola, KS; Douglas Gail Roberts (Judy) of Olathe, KS; and Barry Michael Roberts (Jeanette) of Lakewood, CO, who all survive. Brother, Dale Roberts, Kansas City, MO; Sister, Shirley Hampton, Olathe, KS; Brother-in-Law, Clarence Abell, Olathe, KS; and Doris Jean Roberts, Lenexa, KS, also survive. Lloyd ("Gramps") is survived also by his Grandchildren: Farell Jay Roberts of Paola, KS; Anne Michelle Canter (Gary), Duluth, GA; Angela Jonell Thrasher (Johnny) of Olathe, KS; and Kelly Lloyd Roberts (Hillary) of Spring Hill, KS; Great-Grandchildren: Jennifer Marie Mentzel (Johnny), Nicole Elizabeth Roberts, Hunter Douglas Redmond, Mallory Jo Redmond, Lily Grace Thrasher all of Olathe, KS; Caitlin Melise Roberts of Osawatomie, KS; and Walker Grant Roberts, Spring Hill, KS; and a Great-great-grandson, Wesley Taylor Mentzel of Olathe, KS.
