OBITUARY
 
Departed this life, near Olathe, Kansas, December 2nd. at o'clock p. m., Mrs. Matilda Meek, wife of D. A. Meek, aged 53 years, 3 months and sixd days.
 
Deceased was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, and in February, 1839 she embraced the christian religion and united with the Baptist church, and in July following was married to D. A. Meek, who united with the church at the same, where they lived together in fellowship with the church until 1867. Wfcen they emigrated to Kansas they brought their religion with them, and when the Eureka Baptist church was constituted, they united with the same. Sister Meek lived a consistant christian life and member of the Eureka church until her death.
 
She often expressed for the prosperity of Zion and exorting her children and friends to strive to enter in at the straight gate. She was greatly beloved and highly esteemed by all who knew her and was distinguished  by that piety which characterizes the children of God. She died in the triumphs of a living faith fully resigned to the will of the heavenly Master. She leaves an affectionate husband and children and many friends to mourn her loss.
